Christmas in Cotter

Planning is underway to make the 3rd Annual “Christmas in Cotter” event the best ever for our community.  With the Peitz River Lights shining on the Cotter Ruthven Bridge, we are striving to turn the park into a dazzling holiday display from December 1st to December 31st.

The event on December 18, 2021 will include Christmas carolers, Santa Claus, the Polar Express Conductor, S’mores and hot chocolate & other treats.

In addition, to the City of Cotter best decorated house awards, this year will also have a Christmas Tree contest.  Businesses and families will have the opportunity to put up an artificial tree in the park.  This contest will be limited to 10 trees and entry cut-off is Nov 15th. Trees should be from 4 ft – 8 ft tall (tastefully decorated of course), and trees will have to be in place and decorated by Nov 27th.   The city will provide T-bars to facilitate tie-down to protect from wind.  Trees must be removed by the week of January 3rd.  This will be a unique way to advertise your business.  To enter the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest, please email cottermayor@infodash.com or call 870 435-6326 (City Hall).

So, how can you help?

  • Volunteer to help decorate the park (decoration days are Nov 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th if necessary, starting at 10 a.m. each day).  The City of Cotter purchased additional lights for this year.  If you can volunteer, please contact City Hall at 870 435-6326.  We need you to help put up Decorations in the Park.
  • Donation of toys ($5 range–not too expensive) for Santa to give to the children or make a cash donation that will be used to buy toys.
  • Donate snacks.  We will need individually wrapped cookies, Little Debbie Snack Cakes, individual bags of chips, Halo oranges. etc.  Snack items can be baked or purchased, or you can donate towards their purchase.  We could also use a couple volunteers who will be in charge of arranging the snacks on tables at the pavilion and distributing to the attendees.

Coffee With the Mayor

Coffee with the Mayor (Third Friday of Every Month) will be this Friday on October 15, 2021, from 8:00 am-9:00 am. Come to Cotter City Hall to have coffee and pastries with Mayor Mac Caradine. Meet other Cotter residents. Hear updates about the City.
