Potential Releases from Norfork and Bull Shoals

MONDAY UPDATE 3:00 PM 6-8-20 – Tropical Depression Cristobal is arriving soon to our area.  Our projections for releases from Norfork and Bull Shoals Dams are remaining 20,000 to 50,000 cubic feet per second.  The exact number depends on rainfall within our watersheds.  The most likely scenario will be a small release occurring tomorrow in the early morning hours and increase later in the a.m..

Please access this link to see our inundation maps based on the 40,000 CFS releases.

FROM BAXTER COUNTY OEM MONDAY JUNE 8, 2020

UPDATED 6-8-20 10:00 AM I am sure everyone has heard by now about the potential rainfall from this tropical storm heading our way. From what the NWS, KY3 and other weather outlets are saying we can expect rain here starting around 3pm or 4pm Monday . With the amount of rainfall we have had up to this point the potential for significant flooding is going to increase once the USACE starts releasing water. Below I have attached the email directly from the USACE please review it and make those in your city and districts aware, so they can begin preparing if necessary. Ive already had a couple of people this morning call looking and wondering where to get sandbags in preparation for this, so im sure you may receive those same calls if you haven’t already. Let the OEM office know if there is anything we can do to help. David Stults, Baxter County OEM Director, 870-321-2114, Safety@baxtercounty.org
